Overlooking the River Thames, Gravesend Borough Market is one of the oldest markets in Kent. Its existing retail market was complete and full of traders when the council decided to open an adjacent part of the market to allow new traders to set up for a food offering.
We worked closely with the main contractor Faithdean and their architects to supply extraction systems for five 4m x 4m individual self-contained units.
All five extract canopies were linked through a series of noise and odour control systems then out of the building via a single duct.
Working in a historic building with the Gravesham Council as the end-user mean working to strict guidelines and planning conditions through which we supported the architects.
We have since worked with some of the food traders to help set up their kitchens.
The market is located behind The Old Town Hall and links the High Street with Queen Street.
There is ample parking in the town centre, the nearest being Market Square Car Park and Horn Yard Car Park.
