Macknade at Elwick Place is an all day dining & drinking experience in the centre of Ashford, on the site of the former cattle market with seating as a mixture of individual & communal tables, located centrally amongst service counters, creating an informal & friendly space for everyone to enjoy.
Macknade Fine Foods at Faversham have been a long and valued customer so we were delighted to be appointed one of two main contractors for the transformation of this empty 5000 square foot unit in Elwick Place Ashford into the retail, restaurant and community space it is to become.
Our planning and design team were key to providing Macknades the correct advice on such matters as building control, planning, M&E and fire regulations to ensure that the fit out complied with detailed conditions put in place by the Elwick Place operators.
Being located under a cinema complex fire regulations dictated that within the building we provided 20m of fire rated ductwork and installed an Ansul fire suppression system within the extraction canopy. Externally a further 30 meters of ductwork with odour control measures were required to get across the delivery bay.
As part of our extraction package we also completed all of the ventilation requirement for the toilet area.
All plumbing works within the building were planned and installed by us including the provision of two x 250Litre hot water heater tanks placed upon hanging platforms and a hot water loop due to the size of the building and position of the tanks.
After many weeks of preparation which included interruptions for the screeded and resin floor and a Christmas shut down we provided an installed over 70 items of cooking appliances, refrigeration, preparation equipment, dish & glasswashing, bar equipment, light equipment and smallwares.
A great project to be involved in for customer and his team that we all know very well now. We wish them as much success with this development that their Faversham store has already achieved.
The breakfast and lunchtime menu has been sampled and we certainly approve! Cant wait to see the evening menu.
