Scotts, based near Tonbridge in Kent, supports adults with learning disabilities to strive to reach their aspirations and make choices about how they want to live their lives through three interlinked services.
We were invited to tender for this project in spring of 2018 and were verbally awarded it soon after but a change of priorities on site meant that the available budget was spent on other things. Our client came back to us at the start of the year and works dates in April were agreed.
The client's brief was to convert their domestic kitchen into a more practical and easy to keep clean commercial space with the limited but capable cooking requirements.
Once the strip out of the domestic kitchen was completed we needed to do a small amount of electrical re-wiring to allow for new appliance positions. The kitchen was also entirely re-plumbed by us.
This was followed by the application of Bioclad Upvc hygienic wall cladding and Altro Stronghold 30 slip resistant safety flooring.
No gas cooking appliances were needed and there was to be no frying or grilling so the need for an extraction canopy was small - instead, we installed a reversible wall fan just to provide some air movement.
Once the structure of the room was complete we added stainless steel furniture, a pair of stacked convection ovens, induction hobs, fridges and a commercial dishwasher.
A simple straightforward job completed on time and within budget for a customer that was a pleasure to work with.
