The original St Jospehs Catholic Primary School built in 1960.
A replacement 420-pupil primary school is being built on the existing 4.45-acre (1.8-hectare) campus and then the current classrooms will be demolished. There will also be new external soft and hard play areas, a coach drop-off point and a re-modelled car park with an extra 20 spaces taking the total to 48.
Working with our main contractor partners Kier Regional Building Eastern we were contracted at the start of 2020 to complete the installation of the new commercial kitchen planned as part of the schools replacement building programme.
Our responsibility was to ensure that the design worked well for the allotted kitchen space with CAD and BIM modeling all carried out by us.
Once Kier had completed initial building works we installed the extraction canopy and services spine to allow further building works to complete.
After M&E contractors had completed we spent 3 days installing the kitchen appliances which included a pair of Rational stacked combi ovens and two Blue Seal range ovens all of which would comprise the workhorse of the new kitchen.
A Maidaid pass through dishwasher and plenty of Williams refrigeration was then installed along with bespoke stainless steel work benches and sinks.
The new kitchen is a hygienic bright working space with a roller servery under which Victor Manufacturing bain marie hot cupboards would display the days food for the children.
