🌳 A Compact, Custom Kitchen for a New-Build Café in One of Kent’s Most Loved Parks

Mote Park, a sprawling 440-acre green space in Maidstone, Kent, is rich in history and one of the South East’s most popular public destinations. Featuring a boating lake, miniature railway, and the stately Mote House, it’s a hub for visitors and families.

In partnership with our long-standing client Robert from Riverside Caterers, we delivered the commercial kitchen and customer-facing servery for a brand-new café located in a prime park setting.

🎯 Project Brief: Making a Small Space Work Beautifully

The café’s striking design posed unique challenges:

• 📏 Limited storage and prep space

• 🏗️ Compact kitchen footprint with non-standard architecture (no 90-degree corners!)

• 👥 High visitor turnover requiring robust, easy-to-clean finishes and equipment

Our task: design, supply, and install a fully functional kitchen and serving area that maximizes every inch, meets professional standards, and complements the building’s bespoke interior.

💨 Extraction & Ventilation

Installed a commercial extraction system, including a second windcatcher on the roof to ensure proper airflow in the compact, enclosed space.

🧼 Hygienic Finishes

• UPVC hygienic wall cladding for easy maintenance and hygiene compliance

• Slip-resistant commercial flooring to ensure staff safety during busy service

🔧 Bespoke Stainless Steel Fabrication

Custom-fabricated kitchen benches and workstations to fit the non-orthogonal corners, allowing efficient use of the awkward space.

🍳 Equipment Installation

Supplied and installed high-performance, durable, and compact catering equipment including:

• Blue Seal commercial cooking appliances

• Commercial refrigeration units

• Dishwashing area setup

🍽️ Customer-Serving Area

Finished with a custom-built stainless steel servery topped with stylish Corian work surfaces, timber cladding for warmth, and a white metro tile backsplash with matching pelmet—creating a welcoming and functional front-of-house space.
