Extraction and ventilation · Kent and the South East Commercial kitchen extraction systems in Kent Commercial kitchen extraction systems across Kent — DW172-compliant canopies, ductwork, MUA and gas interlock designed and installed in-house. Listed buildings, low-headroom sites, high-load cooking suites - we have done them all.

Commercial Kitchen Extraction Services

Why Kent Commercial Kitchens

What operators need from an extraction specialist

DW172 compliance - designed in-house, not delegated Specifically, the ventilation design is done by the same team that installs it. Specifically, we calculate cooking loads, size canopies, specify MUA rates and design gas interlock systems before any ductwork is fabricated. No disconnect between the drawings and the build, and no third-party ventilation consultant to coordinate around.
Low-headroom and listed building solutions However, not every building accommodates a standard extraction run. For example, we have installed compliant systems in Grade I and Grade II listed buildings, low-headroom basements and sites with restricted plant room access. However, if a conventional solution will not work, we find one that will.
Gas interlock designed as part of the system Furthermore, gas interlock is not a bolt-on. We design it into the extraction system from the outset: the right switch type, in the right position, interlocked to the correct appliances. Additionally, wired and signed off by Gas Safe registered engineers before handover.
One team from calculation to commissioning Additionally, the engineer who sizes your extraction is the one who oversees its installation and signs off the commissioned system. Therefore, there is no hand-off between design and build, no information lost between the office and the site.
What's included

The full extraction package

Canopy design and supply For example, sized to cooking load, ceiling height and building constraints. Wall-mounted, island and custom configurations including low-profile options for restricted headroom.
Ductwork fabrication and installation Specifically, rectangular and circular ductwork fabricated to DW172 specification. Routed through the building fabric with access panels positioned correctly for maintenance.
Make-up air (MUA) Additionally, fresh air supply designed to balance extract rates and prevent negative pressure. Tempered MUA on high-volume systems. Coordinated with building fabric and programme.
Gas interlock system Furthermore, airflow-proving gas interlock designed and installed as part of the extraction system. Correct switch specification, wiring and commissioning by Gas Safe registered engineers.
Fire suppression integration Moreover, extraction designed to accommodate Ceasefire wet-chemical fire suppression systems where required. Coordinated at design stage, not retro-fitted after the ductwork is in.
Commissioning and certification Finally, full system commissioning, airflow testing, gas interlock function test and handover documentation. Certificates issued on completion of all works.

How it works

From load calculation to commissioned system

First, site survey and load calculation First, we survey the kitchen, assess the cooking equipment, measure ceiling heights and ductwork routes. Cooking load calculated and extraction rates confirmed before design begins.
System design Then, canopy sizing, ductwork routing, MUA specification and gas interlock design produced in-house. Drawings issued for approval before any fabrication starts.
Fabrication and installation Next, ductwork fabricated to DW172 specification. Canopy and ductwork installed, MUA connected, gas interlock wired and function-tested before commissioning.
Commissioning and handover Finally, airflow tested and balanced, gas interlock function-tested by Gas Safe engineers, certificates issued. Full handover documentation provided on completion.
