π Bakery 64 β Small Commercial Kitchen Refurbishment in New Romney, Kent
π About Bakery 64
Bakery 64 sits in the middle of New Romney High Street. It is well-loved for its fresh bread, homemade cakes, and tasty breakfasts and lunches. Because the bakery is always busy, and since it has a loyal base of customers, the kitchen needed a proper update. This was important not only to improve the way staff worked but also to bring the space in line with todayβs hygiene and safety standards.
π Kitchen Challenges & Consultation
The old kitchen was long and narrow, so staff often struggled to move around easily. As a result, service could sometimes feel cramped and slow. Therefore, the Bakery 64 team asked us to find a simple and cost-friendly solution that would save space, improve workflow, and also upgrade electrics and surfaces.
After a face-to-face meeting with the owners, we developed a plan. This design was practical, affordable, and above all, avoided the need for a full rebuild. Because of this, the bakery could gain the benefits of a new layout without the heavy costs of major building works.
π Design, Quotation & Care
Although this was a small project, we gave it the same level of care as we give to big restaurant chains. For example, we produced detailed design drawings, shared clear and open quotations, and also provided ongoing updates. In addition, we worked closely with the owners so that every stage felt clear and stress-free. As a result, trust was built and the project ran smoothly from start to finish.
π§ Refurbishment & Installation
Because the bakery needed to keep trading, we carefully planned the works. First, we set up temporary sinks and handwashing facilities at the front. Then, we sealed off the kitchen so hygiene and safety were never at risk.
After that, we carried out a full strip-out of the old kitchen. Once the space was clear, we moved on to key upgrades that made a big difference.
𧱠Infrastructure
-
We repaired and smoothed all wall surfaces, and then installed Bioclad wall cladding for easy cleaning.
-
We laid Altro Stronghold slip-resistant flooring, which therefore improved both safety and durability.
-
We also rewired the electrics fully so everything now meets UK safety standards.
π οΈ Equipment
Many appliances were still in good condition, so we removed, cleaned, and then reinstalled them. However, we also supplied and fitted new items to boost performance. These included a modern dishwasher, a high-performance grill, and custom stainless-steel benches and sinks that fitted the updated layout.
β Results & Outcome
At the end of the project, Bakery 64 had a compact yet highly efficient kitchen. Staff could now move around more easily, while surfaces were safer and easier to clean. In addition, the electrical upgrades made the kitchen fully compliant. As a result, the bakery can keep up its busy trade and serve fresh food every day without stress.
