🍴 The Gastronomist – Commercial Restaurant Fit-Out in Ashford


🍽️ Creating a Unique Dining Experience

The Gastronomist is a refined, modern event space designed to offer exceptional and sometimes unconventional dining experiences. Combining comfort with conviviality, it promises to be a standout venue for fine dining events and special occasions.

Our long-standing relationship with another client at the Elwick Place development in Ashford led to us being contracted to design and build The Gastronomist restaurant. As the main contractor, we were responsible for transforming an empty concrete shell into a fully functional restaurant, designed to meet the demands of high-end dining.


🏗️ Restaurant Design and Build – From Concept to Completion

The project presented a unique challenge, compounded by the uncertainties created by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the circumstances allowed us the flexibility to focus on the finer details of the design and construction rather than a rushed deadline. This provided the opportunity to create a restaurant space that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing for the hospitality industry.

As the main contractor, we took responsibility for every element of the restaurant build, from kitchen design and ventilation systems to heating, audio systems, and even waste collection systems. This truly was a turnkey project, where we handled everything to ensure a smooth and efficient fit-out process.


🍳 Commercial Kitchen Design and Equipment Installation

Our design team provided a comprehensive layout, ensuring task separation between prep areas, cooking stations, and dishwashing zones to create an efficient and safe environment. As part of our kitchen installation, we installed state-of-the-art commercial catering equipment, including high-performance cooking appliances, refrigeration systems, and dishwashers – all crucial for maintaining high service standards in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Some of the key equipment included:

  • Blue Seal cooking equipment

  • Rational combi ovens for precision cooking

  • True Refrigeration units

  • Maidaid commercial dishwashers for optimal cleanliness and efficiency


🎶 Technology and Aesthetic Integration

In addition to the functional kitchen equipment, we incorporated audio systems and broadband installation to ensure the restaurant could meet the expectations of a modern, tech-savvy clientele. A stylish aesthetic, with carefully chosen décor and finishes, added the final touch to create a sophisticated dining environment.

The restaurant now features:

  • Hygienic wall cladding for easy cleaning and maintenance

  • Slip-resistant vinyl flooring to ensure safety in high-traffic areas

  • Bespoke lighting to set the right ambiance for a unique dining experience

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, this was a truly collaborative project, with our team working closely with the client to ensure the restaurant met their vision. The Gastronomist now stands as a prime example of what can be achieved through careful planning, attention to detail, and a turnkey restaurant fit-out approach.

We’ve already had the opportunity to experience the restaurant’s exceptional offerings ourselves, and we’re thrilled to see this venue thriving. The Gastronomist now offers refined dining experiences that blend creativity with culinary excellence.
