Aylesford Community Centre hosts many groups and events; therefore, it is a key part of the community. Because the old kitchen was worn, it limited what people could do; consequently, the centre asked us to make a new, easy-to-use kitchen. At the same time, we focused on hygiene, safety, and strength so that the space would serve everyone well.

First, the new kitchen had to be simple and easy to move around, so staff could work efficiently. Then, all surfaces had to be clean and safe; additionally, they had to meet health standards. Also, the kitchen needed to be strong enough for many different events; therefore, we designed a practical and safe space.

💷 Grant-Funded Upgrade

After applying for a grant with the council and trustees, we got the project; as a result, we could start planning carefully. Next, we coordinated with contractors and suppliers so that the work would go smoothly. Meanwhile, we included the community’s needs in every decision because their daily use mattered. Then, we scheduled the work to minimise disruption while maintaining safety throughout the project.

🔧 Key Features

First, we installed a new extraction system with ventilation and ducting, which helped the kitchen stay fresh and safe. Then, we added Bioclad uPVC walls for easy cleaning, and also they improved hygiene standards. Next, we repaired the floor and fitted slip-resistant vinyl so that staff could move safely. Furthermore, we added a bright ceiling with LED lights to make working easier and safer. Finally, we installed practical catering appliances so that the kitchen could handle all events efficiently.

Now, the kitchen is bright, safe, and easy to use; therefore, staff can cook and serve food efficiently. Also, the space is strong and low-maintenance, so it will last many years.
