The Enterprise Learning Alliance is a KCC organisation that works with young people and other schools in South East Kent as a referral unit.

With its focus being on core academic skills and some more vocational subjects, the requirement was to create a food technology classroom that was semi-commercial in its design so that students could be introduced to the hospitality industry with a view to giving them some basic cookery and food-handling skills.
These may just be useful life skills or could lead students towards a career in catering and hospitality.

We were delighted to win the third project in 2019 to complete for the same customer. The brief this time was to remove what was a very domestic MDF style kitchen and replace it with a modern, hygienic stainless steel kitchen.

We had just one week to complete this work as the centre is always busy and half-term was the ideal opportunity. The strict week’s work meant that we had to put most of our team onto the job and to work efficiently. 

With the strip-out being done by 11 am on the first day we were off to a good start. We spend the next few days installing an extraction canopy and adding Bioclad Upvc hygienic wall cladding and completing our first fix plumbing and some electrical works.

On the morning of our last day, the new stainless steel counters arrived which had to be fitted before the catering appliances could be installed.
After a hard days work by the team the room was completed around 5 pm Friday ready for the centre to prepare for a lesson on Monday morning,
