🕊️ Project Spotlight: The Blue Pigeons at Worth


A Boutique Destination with Big Ambitions

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Worth, Kent, The Blue Pigeons is a cosy, family-run English restaurant and boutique hotel. Celebrated for its warm hospitality and commitment to locally sourced, seasonal food, it’s a much-loved destination for guests to eat, drink, and stay.

When new owner Tom began a full-scale refurbishment of the venue, he turned to Kent Commercial Kitchens to deliver a bespoke kitchen fit-out that maximised efficiency and functionality—despite the constraints of a small footprint.


🛠️ Design & Build Challenges – Smart Solutions for a Small Space

The existing kitchen, while functional, struggled with space and flow. During initial consultations, it became clear that workflow efficiency could only be improved by reconfiguring the layout.

By converting the adjacent storeroom, we created a dedicated dishwashing and prep zone, streamlining operations and easing pressure during peak service times. This practical approach freed up valuable space in the main kitchen and set the tone for a smart, efficient design.


🔄 Coordination & Flexibility on a Live Refurbishment Site

This project formed part of a broader site-wide upgrade. Our work required close collaboration with other trades and contractors, and delays to the site’s electrical infrastructure upgrade meant we had to remain adaptable while maintaining momentum.

Key early-stage works included:

  • Hygienic UPVC wall cladding in the kitchen and prep areas

  • Slip-resistant commercial vinyl flooring for safe and easy cleaning


💨 Quiet, Clean, and Compliant Ventilation

We engineered and installed a bespoke kitchen extraction system, optimised for:

  • Low-noise operation

  • Energy efficiency

  • Easy maintenance access

This ensures the kitchen remains a comfortable working environment and meets all food hygiene and ventilation regulations.


🔧 Equipment Fit-Out – Power and Precision in a Small Footprint

With space at a premium, equipment selection was critical. We specified:

  • CookTek induction hobs for fast, responsive cooking

  • Rational combi ovens—a favourite of professional chefs for their power, flexibility, and efficiency

To further support back-of-house needs, we added an external walk-in cold room, solving space constraints and boosting cold storage capacity.

We also supplied a full set of kitchen essentials, from cookware and utensils to countertop appliances—ensuring the kitchen team had everything they needed from day one.


🍸 Bar Area Fit-Out – Built for Service

Our final phase was the bar equipment install, where we provided high-performance systems including:

  • Meiko glasswashers

  • Scotsman and Hoshizaki ice machines, known for their reliability and output

With this, the bar was equipped to serve guests quickly and efficiently—no matter how busy service gets.


🎯 A Kitchen Ready to Deliver

Despite spatial challenges and a live refurbishment environment, this project was completed on schedule and to specification.
