More about this project

Project Spotlight: The Blue Pigeons at Worth

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Worth, Kent, The Blue Pigeons is a cosy, family-run English restaurant and boutique hotel. Known for its warm hospitality and dedication to serving delicious, locally sourced seasonal food, it’s a favourite destination to eat, drink, and stay.

We were thrilled to be brought on board by Tom, the new owner, to deliver a full design-and-build kitchen refurbishment that would make the most of a compact space, all while supporting the venue’s ambitions for growth and efficiency.

Design & Build Challenges – Smart Solutions for a Small Space

The existing kitchen was functional but limited in space. During our initial consultation, it became clear that rethinking the layout would be essential. Fortunately, the adjacent storeroom offered the perfect opportunity to expand operations. By converting this area, we were able to create a much-needed dedicated dishwashing and food preparation zone—helping to streamline workflow and reduce congestion during busy service times.

Onsite Coordination & Project Phasing

As The Blue Pigeons was undergoing a broader, long-term refurbishment, our project required close coordination with multiple contractors. One of the key challenges we faced was the delay caused by an essential upgrade to the site’s electrical infrastructure. Despite this, we worked flexibly and maintained consistent communication to keep the project on track.

Our initial work involved cladding the kitchen and newly converted preparation area with hygienic UPVC wall panels, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and creating an easy-to-clean environment. This was followed by floor preparation and the installation of slip-resistant commercial-grade vinyl flooring to ensure safety and durability.

Efficient, Quiet, and Easy-to-Clean Ventilation

The next step was the design and installation of a bespoke extraction ventilation system. It was engineered to be both quiet and energy-efficient while also simplifying ongoing maintenance—a key requirement in any modern commercial kitchen.

Smart Equipment Choices for Performance & Space-Saving

With space at a premium, every inch had to work hard. We focused on maximizing usable worktop areas without compromising on capability. To achieve this, we selected high-efficiency, professional-grade cooking equipment, including CookTek induction hobs and Rational combi ovens—both industry leaders known for performance and energy efficiency.

To alleviate cold storage limitations, we supplied and installed an external walk-in cold room, freeing up vital internal space and enhancing food storage capacity.

Once the core kitchen setup was in place, we provided a complete package of kitchen essentials, from pots, pans, and utensils to countertop electrical appliances—ensuring the team at The Blue Pigeons had everything they needed from day one.

Completing the Bar: Premium Equipment for a Smooth Service

Our final task was equipping the bar area. We supplied and installed professional-grade systems including Meiko bar equipment and ice machines by Scotsman and Hoshizaki, trusted brands known for reliability and quality.

A Kitchen Ready to Deliver

The end result is a compact yet fully capable commercial kitchen, designed for high performance and built to last. We’re proud to have contributed to the success of The Blue Pigeons and to support their vision of offering top-tier hospitality in a beautiful village setting
