More about this project
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls (MGGS) has been providing academic education for girls (and boys in the Sixth Form) from the town of Maidstone, and its surrounding area for over 130 years.
We were asked by their contract caterers, Aspens, to provide new appliances, improve the practical layout, improve efficiency and bring to current safety standards.
Works were carried out during the summer holidays and took about 3 weeks to complete. The old centre island style extraction canopy was removed and a new 7-meter long modern wall sited extraction canopy was installed.
We next applied Bioclad Upvc wall cladding to all walls making the kitchen extremely hygienic and just as important making it easy to keep it that way.
This part of the school had a limited three-phase electrical supply so the decision was made to provide two side by side Rational 10 grid gas combi ovens – this change alone has made the largest difference to the kitchen team’s efficiency.
Works were completed on time and to budget and handed over 1 week before the term start when we provided appliance training to the kitchen team.
