🍗 Le Coq – Restaurant Kitchen Installation at Folkestone Harbour Arm


🌊 A Unique Culinary Experience in Folkestone

Le Coq offers a truly unique dining experience located in the Folkestone Harbour Arm, with breathtaking views of the White Cliffs of Dover and the Folkestone Harbour. Specialising in slow-cooked rotisserie chicken, crispy chips, and delightful sides, Le Coq is perfect for dining in, eating out, or grabbing a bite on the go.

What makes Le Coq even more special is its ingeniously designed kitchen space, housed within a set of conjoined shipping containers—a truly distinctive concept in the bustling Folkestone Harbour Arm area.


🛠️ Our Role in This Ambitious Project

This ambitious restaurant kitchen installation was one of six projects we completed during the vibrant summer of 2023. We had the pleasure of working alongside the Folkestone Harbour Company and the Le Coq team to design and build the entire commercial kitchen, including:

  • The kitchen

  • The dishwasher room

  • The preparation room

  • The wet bar and hot food servery counter

We were thrilled to guide and educate our client, a passionate food industry novice, through every stage of the process. Our team ensured that all areas met the highest standards of hygiene and functionality, from the materials used to the layout and equipment installed.


🔧 Key Features of the Le Coq Kitchen Design

Our design and installation incorporated several key elements to ensure both operational efficiency and food safety:

1. Hygienic Wall Cladding & Slip-Resistant Vinyl Flooring

  • Ensured easy cleaning and maintenance to meet industry standards.

2. Internal Plumbing & LPG Gas Works

  • We meticulously handled all plumbing and gas installations to guarantee safety and compliance.

3. Extract Canopy System

  • A wall-sited extract and make-up air canopy was seamlessly integrated into the container roof, requiring precise cutting and welding.

4. Bespoke Bar & Servery Design

  • The bar servery and hot food servery were crafted using timber frames and stainless steel fabrications, topped with elegant Arctic White Corian for a modern, clean aesthetic.


🍴 Exceptional Kitchen Appliances

The installation of high-quality kitchen appliances played a crucial role in this project. Key equipment included:

  • Rotisol Rotisserie Oven – The showstopper of the kitchen, offering a captivating rotisserie display that draws in customers.

  • Rational Combi Oven – A reliable, versatile oven essential for efficient cooking.

  • Scotsman Ice Machine – Ensuring a constant supply of ice for drinks and food preparation.

  • Maidaid Glass and Dishwashers – Providing essential functionality for cleaning and sanitation.


✅ A Successful Collaboration

The project was a true collaboration between our team, the Folkestone Harbour Company, and the Le Coq operators. Despite challenges such as the unconventional kitchen design, we successfully delivered a fully operational and visually striking kitchen that complements Le Coq’s exciting culinary vision.

The combination of bespoke design and high-end equipment ensures that the restaurant operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and customer service.
