🌿🍽️ Romney Marsh Visitor Centre – Kitchen Upgrade

🦉 Supporting Kent Wildlife Trust

The Romney Marsh Visitor Centre is run by the Kent Wildlife Trust, and therefore it relies on donations and members to continue protecting local wildlife. Previously, the café only served simple tea and cakes, and as a result, the space felt more like a small office kitchen than a proper café. Consequently, we were asked to build a modern, clean kitchen that could serve daily visitors, while at the same time supporting special events, and also protecting the eco-friendly building.

🧼 Making a Hygienic and Practical Kitchen

First, we inspected the old kitchen, and then we planned a new layout that allows staff to move easily. Next, we installed commercial-grade finishes, and also we made sure all surfaces were simple to clean. In addition, we considered safety, and as a result, the kitchen became practical, safe, and ready to handle more customers. Finally, this redesign helped the café expand, while also keeping the workspace organised.

🌳 Protecting the Eco-Friendly Building

The visitor centre is built with wooden beams and straw bale walls, so therefore we had to be careful. To do this, we first added plywood cladding to the walls, which allows future fixes without harming the straw. Then, we covered all wall surfaces with Bioclad uPVC panels for hygiene, and at the same time, we installed Altro Stronghold 30 slip-resistant vinyl flooring for safety and durability. Thus, the building stayed intact, while also giving the kitchen a professional, functional look.

💡 Bright and Easy-to-Clean Space

Because the ceiling has exposed beams, we also added a wipe-clean suspended ceiling, and moreover, we fitted energy-efficient LED lights. This makes the kitchen bright, easy to maintain, and comfortable for staff, while also helping them work safely. Furthermore, the improved lighting ensures the café feels welcoming to visitors, and at the same time supports staff productivity.

🔧 Installing Kitchen Equipment

Next, we installed stainless steel benches and sinks for hygiene, and in addition, a commercial dishwasher to make cleaning easier and faster. We also added electric cooking appliances so staff could prepare more dishes safely, while at the same time maintaining efficiency. As a result, the kitchen now meets café needs, and simultaneously preserves the eco-friendly building structure.

✅ Why Choose Us

We create kitchens that fit unique buildings, and at the same time, we use durable and hygienic materials. Also, we manage projects efficiently while causing minimal disruption. Moreover, we install trusted kitchen appliances, and in addition, we always focus on safety, hygiene, and environmental sustainability. Consequently, clients get a kitchen that is practical, safe, and long-lasting.
