The brief

Pub kitchen installation Kent: new trade kitchen in a residential area

The Rose in June is a 19th-century Shepherd Neame pub in Cliftonville, Margate — a residential neighbourhood where extraction noise and odour can become a planning issue. When the kitchen needed a full redesign and fit-out, the brief had an added layer: secure planning permission for the extraction system, manage the acoustic and odour impact on neighbouring properties, and deliver a properly specified trade kitchen within a 3-week window.

We handled the planning submission, noise survey and extraction design before any kit went on site — getting the project approved and ready to build before mobilising. The kitchen itself was then designed, fabricated and installed in-house, with all works completed within the 3-week programme.

What we did

Planning, extraction and full kitchen fit-out

Planning and noise survey

Extraction designs and building elevations prepared to support the planning application. Noise survey carried out to address potential impact on neighbouring residents. Odour control incorporated into the extraction specification — carbon filtration to manage kitchen smells through the ductwork run. Planning permission secured before site works began.

Extraction canopy and ductwork

Bespoke extraction canopy installed over the cookline. Ductwork run designed and installed with integrated noise attenuation and odour control — meeting the conditions of the planning consent and ensuring the pub could operate its kitchen without impact on the surrounding residential properties.

Cookline and equipment

Blue Seal gas range and chargrill across the main cooking positions. Parry griddle. Roband commercial equipment. Maidaid dishwasher for warewashing. Hoshizaki refrigeration cabinets. All equipment supplied and installed by our team — commissioned and signed off before handover.

Bespoke fabrication and finishes

Pass gantry, prep benches and sink runs fabricated in-house at our Folkestone workshop. UPVC hygienic wall cladding throughout the kitchen. Stainless steel cladding under the extraction canopy. All surfaces specified for durability and ease of cleaning in a pub kitchen running food service.
