📚 Project Overview: Designing & Building a Commercial Kitchen

We worked closely with our long-term client, Redec, who managed the construction of an extension at Park Way Primary School. This extension included new offices and a modern commercial kitchen. Therefore, we designed and built the kitchen from the ground up.

To start, we prepared a full set of layout and services drawings to guide the installation. In addition, we held regular site meetings with the client and key trades. As a result, we quickly solved potential issues and kept the project on schedule. Furthermore, these meetings allowed us to coordinate efficiently with all parties involved, ensuring smooth progress throughout.

🛠️ Installation Process: A Seamless Workflow

First, we installed a new island extraction canopy along with ductwork leading to a flat roof. Consequently, the kitchen now benefits from efficient ventilation. Moreover, this setup ensures the extract and fresh air plant operate optimally.

Next, we fitted Bioclad UPVC hygienic wall cladding over the pre-prepared walls. This step created a hygienic, easy-to-clean surface, while allowing the main contractor’s M&E team to complete their second fix work without delays. Therefore, workflow on-site remained smooth. Additionally, we double-checked every panel to ensure level, secure installation, which prepared the space perfectly for appliance installation.

🍽️ Serving and Catering Equipment Installation

After completing the walls and extraction system, we installed the servery counters. These counters feature robust tray slides designed to meet the high demands of a busy school kitchen. At the same time, we fitted fire-rated roller shutters to secure the servery area when not in use.

Subsequently, we delivered and installed all catering appliances. Over three days, the team completed the setup, followed by testing and commissioning. Therefore, the kitchen became fully operational, enabling staff to work efficiently from day one. Furthermore, we ensured all equipment met hygiene and safety standards, which gives peace of mind to both staff and management.

To finish, we conducted comprehensive staff training. This step helped staff feel confident using the new equipment. In addition, we explained all operational procedures clearly.
