📚 Project Overview: Designing & Building a Commercial Kitchen

We had the pleasure of working with our long-term and valued client, Redec, who acted as the main contractor responsible for the construction of an extension to Park Way Primary School. The extension included the creation of new offices and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Our team was contracted to design and build the new commercial kitchen from the ground up.

As part of the project, we provided a full set of layout and services drawings in advance. We also held regular site meetings with the client and key trades to ensure that the project was completed smoothly and to the highest standards.

🛠️ Installation Process: A Seamless Workflow

The kitchen installation began with the installation of a new island extraction canopy, complete with ductwork running to a flat roof. This roof housed both the extract and fresh air plant, ensuring efficient kitchen ventilation.

Once the extraction system was in place, we moved on to installing Bioclad Upvc hygienic wall cladding to the pre-prepared walls. This cladding created a highly hygienic and easy-to-clean surface while allowing the main contractor’s M&E works second fix to take place smoothly.

🍽️ Serving and Catering Equipment Installation

Our team then proceeded to install servery counters with robust tray slides, which were designed to accommodate the demands of a busy school kitchen. To ensure safety, we also fitted fire-rated roller shutters that could be lowered to secure the servery area.

The final step of the installation involved delivering and fitting all the required catering appliances. Over the course of three days, we completed the setup, followed by testing and commissioning to ensure everything was functioning correctly and safely.

🍴 Staff Training: Ensuring Smooth Operation

To wrap up the project, we conducted a comprehensive staff training session for the kitchen teams. This training ensured that all staff were fully confident in using the new equipment and understood the kitchen’s operational procedures.
