The brief

A durable community kitchen for a busy church hall

Church halls put kitchens through a level of use that domestic fittings can't sustain — multiple user groups, frequent changeovers, varied catering requirements and no dedicated kitchen team. The brief here was a robust, hygienic, semi-commercial kitchen that could handle heavy daily use, comply with food safety requirements and remain low-maintenance for volunteers.

Working with Steelplan Kitchens, we specified and installed a pre-fabricated steel kitchen — strip-out, plywood templating, steel unit installation, wall cladding, safety flooring and suspended ceiling, all completed in 3 weeks around the hall's activities.

What we did

Full community kitchen installation in 3 weeks

Steelplan pre-fabricated steel kitchen

Full strip-out of the existing kitchen. Pre-manufacture plywood templating to ensure precise fitting of the steel units and worktops. Steelplan powder-coated steel cabinets and worktops installed throughout — designed specifically for semi-commercial environments including church halls, schools, hospitals and community centres. Steel construction gives the durability and hygiene performance needed for high-frequency multi-user operation.

Surfaces and ceiling

Bioclad UPVC hygienic wall cladding installed to all kitchen surfaces — smooth, easy to clean and compliant for food preparation use. Altro Stronghold 30 slip-resistant vinyl safety flooring throughout. Suspended ceiling with removable tiles and energy-efficient LED lighting — bright, practical working environment and simple to maintain.
