🍽️ Revitalizing the Buoy and Oyster Experience in Margate

The Buoy and Oyster Margate is already a highly regarded restaurant, known for its excellent location overlooking the sandy beach. Simon and Nadine, the owners, sought to revamp their restaurant design to provide a more open, casual dining experience with a theatre kitchen and a relaxed bench and stool dining area near the cooking area.

Their vision required extensive changes to the existing setup, as the previous galley-style kitchen was cramped, with limited space for the open kitchen concept they envisioned.

🏗️ Restaurant Fit-Out and Kitchen Design – Creating More Space

To achieve the spacious and open layout required, we:

• Removed the old bar area wall that backed onto the kitchen, opening up more room for the cooking space.

• Relocated the bar to an underutilized soft-furnished bar area.

• Constructed two new bar carcasses at our Folkestone workshop, then transported them to Margate for installation, finished with a stylish zinc worktop.

• Created a larger prep and servery area using the former bar space, equipped with Altro slip-resistant safety flooring and a combination of tiled and Upvc wall clading.

🍳 Commercial Kitchen Installation and Energy Efficiency

For the kitchen transformation, we:

• Installed a new commercial extraction canopy, covering the entire cooking and dishwashing areas for optimal ventilation.

• Implemented an energy-efficient Control Induction cooking suite, aligning with modern restaurant kitchen design trends while keeping energy consumption in check.

• Upgraded the electrical system in coordination with UK Power Networks, requiring street works to bring in additional power for the restaurant.

🛠️ In-House Restaurant Refurbishment – A Turnkey Project

This was a 5-week restaurant fit-out completed entirely in-house with our own team, ensuring we:

• Maintained full control over the project.

• Handled all aspects from kitchen design to bar installation, with no subcontractors involved.
